About us

Our story

How it all started

As a 37-year active volunteer firefighter and Ex-Captain in Nassau County, Kevin and all Grant-Guy
employees are firmly committed to the needs of the fire service. Kevin has served as a police supervisor,
fire officer, and Public-Private Coordinator for the New York City Office of Emergency Management. A
HazMat Technician and NYS EMT-B is a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) and Certified Private Sector
Resiliency/Continuity Professional from DRII.

Tom Devaney acts as our Director and is the current Commissioner of the Mineola Volunteer Ambulance
Corps and Asst. Chief of the East Williston FD where he is a 27 year member. He is a full-time grant
writer for one of the largest townships in the country. Tom is a NYS AEMT and is in charge of all EMS
related applications.

Grant-Guys was formed in 2015 following the passing of our beloved former boss John in December of
2014. John’s company, JSK Inc., was in business since 1990 and was responsible for over $20 million in
federal and state grant awards.

The newly created Grant-Guys focuses on the AFGP, SAFER, and FPS program. Our former company was
involved in many projects from training, consulting, EOC design and even a few grants!

A quote for services is available upon request. Successful awards may be eligible for grant writer fee
reimbursement from FEMA. Fees charged to manage your award over time are not a grant eligible
expense. After 15 years of experience we can safely say: if you do not apply for fire grant funding—you
definitely will not receive federal funds for your projects.
