EAST WILLISTON FD RECEIVES FEDERAL FIRE GRANT
Mineola. NY. Grant-Guys Inc. is proud to announce the award of a PPE washer and dryer for the EAST WILLISTON NY Fire Dept. in the amount of $31,500. The federal award will fund the purchase of a specialized washer extractor to clean firefighters personal firefighting gear. As firefighting gear contains nomex and Kevlar, special agitators and heating equipment is required. The waste water is then filtered before being discharged. As the EWFD has just placed into service 39 sets of new federally funded PPE, this machine will extend the life of the garments which can be exposed to blood Bourne pathogens and hazardous materials on a weekly basis. Clean gear removed diesel soot found in the firehouse and other cancer causing pathogens.
This is the fourth consecutive federal award for the EWFD having been awarded a AFG PPE regional award, a SAFER award, and an AFGP building fire alarm grant all in 2023. The total combined federal support to the EWFD exceeds one half million dollars within the last 8 months.
The award includes the federal reimbursement of grant writing expenses.
